I hope to share my little ups and downs though life in a small town with hopes and dreams of the country life. With that I have learned to bloom where you are planted.

SIMPLE PLEASURES

Hello everyone! Today is a day I was going to post and join a new group called Simple Pleasures. It is to remind us to stop, to look, to listen, to pay closer attention to the small things in life. I started to read the instructions on posting and linking and that is where it all went awry. I have decided anything techie I get lost in. You know that copy, past, link, edit and so forth. So I am going to post my own little Simple Pleasure for today. I am at work and sometimes you just need a little pleasure to make you happy, and this is mine today!

Yep, that's it! A cookie, oops two cookies!! Not even a homemade one, but I think a cookie could solve our world problems. Who doesn't like a cookie? Think of how many times we reach for a cookie. When we are happy, having fun, sad, and maybe even when we are hungry. Just that simple pleasure of hand to mouth, ahhhhhhhhhhh!
These are not fancy cookies, store brand but I so love mint and chocolate together!!! As I write this I want you to know the cookies are already devoured. Do I want more, of course, but I am resisting, come on will power!!! So this has put a smile on my face, so yes, it is my simple pleasure.

Now can anyone tell me how I got the gray behind these paragraphs. Don't have a clue how I did it. Maybe is was my happy fingers clicking computer keys!!

So please hop on over to the true Simple Pleasure, http://alittleofthisandthat2.blogspot.com/

BIRTHDAY PARTY

Grand kid birthday parties are usually pretty low keyed in our family. Oh they've done the pizza parlor, pump it up, bowling, and even snow sledding. But for the most part it is just family, friends and fun. Sunday was my grandson's seventh birthday party. With the weather it was mainly pool time. The adults just sat back and relaxed for a afternoon of visiting. A great day in my book!
The pool was shallow enough so even the little ones could play and the bigger ones had great fun.

The Central Oregon grand kids were missing and we did miss them, but we picked up a few extra. It was out of the pool for a few gift opening and it wasn't long before back to the water. Did I mention all kids slept very well Sunday night! Did I also mention what a great day it was!! Family, Friends and Fun can't get any better!

SILLY

Since my camera is giving me fits I decided to look at some previous saved photos. I came across one and had to laugh. I can be so silly, mushy and such a softy at time. You see when I was a little girl I had many dolls but two were my favorite. One went to dolly heaven many, many years ago. The first vinyl dolls just didn't hold up. The other one was a sock doll that my mother had made when they adopted me at a few weeks old. It went everywhere with me. Somewhere in the last move it disappeared. Now that move was 8 years ago. I kept telling myself it will turn up. I tore my cedar chest apart for that is where she should had been. The only good thing about that was the cedar chest needed reorganizing.

I had a water reservoir to my heat pump in the garage crack. It created quite a mess and I had to move all the soaked boxes and "stuff" out to dry. Now it couldn't be that I crammed too many things in the garage and broke the plastic reservoir, nah, not me! Guess what I found?? Yes, you guess it, my sock doll. Well she needed a good washing and I was so afraid she would be to fragile. So I washed her by hand and hug her out to dry.

I think she even enjoyed the sunny day hanging on the clothes line. She is still pretty discolored but I think it adds character to her. She has yarn hair and an embroidered face. So now that she is found she will never be lost again. But where to put her? So for now she will reside with my no face doll on my bed.

I pretty sure with the smile on her face she is very happy she is found and knows she will always have a special place in my heart.

JUST SMILE

This post is about Murphy's Law. Anything that can go wrong does. Or how about if it weren't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. Is your glass half full or half empty. This past weekend and even before has been a test for me. I've had a lot of activities on my agenda so I've had lots of opportunity for such luck. A funny thing has happen to me. It seems that no matter what goes wrong, don't sweat it and just smile. I have been living by this and you know things that could be mountains have turned into little mole hills. Yes, there have been some disappointment, some extra work but over all I have a wonderful, fantastic life.

Saturday was a beautiful day with the anticipation of a Garden Party with fellow classmates. Three fellow classmates and myself threw a 60Th birthday party for all of us last year. Well everyone had so much fun they wanted to do it again this year. So we planned, organized, decorated and had a wonderful time again. I mean wonderful time! I took lots of pictures and was so looking forward to doing a small album for everyone, blog about the party and post on Classmates & Facebook. Guess What? I think my camera is giving up the ship. Not a single one turned out. Now I would blame it on me but others used my camera and the same, no pictures. So I just smiled!!! Look at it from the bright side; I have put on weight this past year so now I can stay in denial of seeing myself as two ton tank. Just Smile!

I got my new refrigerator delivered this weekend. Yeah, this is exciting. I am on a two year kitchen remodel. It is called pay as you go! I knew I would have to take the old cabinet above the refrigerator down for the new one was taller. I had measured and remeasured the width. I guess I need new glasses. The space was too small!! So I got out the reciprocating saw and cut the cabinet. Oh did I do a customer job on it, hee-hee! The refrigerator fits now. So I look like a hillbilly kitchen for now. Just Smile!

I went to haul the Barbie Playhouse to my granddaughters house and Guess What? The tire on the utility trailer was flat! Just Smile! So I asked very nicely of my neighbor for his service. He came over last night and changed it for me so off to the tire shop this week I go. I think he even enjoyed helping me since he always offers but I never take up the offer. I am very thankful for my neighbors.

I could go on with a few more events but I've bored you long enough. So with my glass half full and I'll take a break from the blog today - with no pictures. I hope all of you can Just Smile when things don't quit go as planned.

Sister's Outdoor Quilt Show

Wow, wow, wow is all I can say. Every building was covered with hanging quilts on display. I heard there were over 1300 quilts through out the town. The worlds largest outdoor quilt show. I'm not sure I even saw half but I did take over a hundred pictures. But until I get a photo software editing I will not be posting all the pictures. I hope to do a mosaic so I can get many in one shot. But I have to share a few with you since I walked from 9:30am until 5:00 pm or later to see as many as I could. Sore feet come to mind!

This quilt was awesome. I can't imagine how long it took the lady to do this and the other one from the picture above. There are thousands of little tiny pieces to creature the shading that creates the design. It was just amazing.

It was a fun weekend camping with my sister and brother in law. Central Oregon has it own beauty. We had a BBQ at a friends house which had the most awesome view from Bend, OR to Redmond, OR and can you believe I didn't take one picture. Where was my head? I think I was awe struck. Good excuse anyway.

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

ANOTHER LAST MINUTE

Project!!! How they can be put on the back burner. My daughter-in-law wanted to make her boys comforters for their beds. The boys wanted an army room so I picked up camo fleece and two different other color fleece before Christmas. She has wanted warm but not heavy or fluffy covers. She also wanted me to show her how to make them. Well as you can tell time just slipped on by and it is now summer and still fabric sitting. So the conversation goes something like this Tuesday evening. Sure I have time, why don't you come on over and we can get started. Her- what were your plans for dinner. Me- haven't even thought about it yet but I have lot of meat in the freezer. Her - well I'll bring everything else. Now mind you this is about 4:30pm. So defrost pork chops, put them into a yummy rub and wait for the family to show up before grilling. At 6:30pm I get the call we are running a little late but we are on our way. So on go the chops!
At 8:30 we start the comfort project. Now I have to tell you my daughter-in-law doesn't really sew. I also have to tell you I don't think I am a very good teacher or at least one with patience. She got all fabric cut out and pinned together. She started the process of sewing around the blankets so we could turn them. She has decided that she will stick to scrap booking, sewing isn't her thing. So at 10:00 pm she headed home. One note my son and kids had gone home at 8:30pm.
I looked at the project after she left and decided it just needed to be finished. So I completed both and was crawling in to bed at 11:15pm, not bad! I had to laugh about here we have nice warm snuggle comforters and it is 97 degree out during the day. Today is suppose to hit 100 degrees. Oh well, they will look nice on their beds and they will love the camo.

It wasn't exactly the last minute but a project that was way overdo and now it is done. So onto the next! I know I will get inspired this weekend for I am going to the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in Sisters, OR. There will be over 1,200 quilts on display all over the town. I'm sure my sister and I will have lots of fun.

Fertilizer Friday

The sun has been out for a week here in the NW and finally my flowers are taking off. I am going to post some more pictures of my roses. I know if you prune the smaller buds off you will get larger single blooms. But somehow I just love many! I've scattered a few other pictures of more blooms that are finally starting or getting fuller. Don't forget to check out Tootsie Time's garden http://www.tootsietime.com/

Just one more single rose. Can you tell I really like from pinks to coral. I didn't post my red rose this time. Maybe it is time I incorporate a few more colors.

If you want to see a beautiful garden check out June's at Laughing with Angels http://laughingwithangels.blogspot.com/ I want to move into her garden and stay for ever!

Have a great 4Th of July, go out and celebrate our independence!
